In My Self Portrait I wanted to start by showing my sketch process. It starts with me trying to tackle the self portrait project by taking a literal point of view and drawing my facial features through a light box the video shows me messing up, zoning out and doodling all over my face. When given a project I start going in an ongoing circle almost like a carrousel. The carrousel links right back to my childhood because unlike the static sound in the beginning the carrousel tune is something I remember vividly. The static sound represents my future meanwhile the carrousel tune represents the more clear and vivid childhood I remember. The carrousel touches a sentimental aspect of my childhood and how much I miss it. I feel that my past is always a bit clearer than what’s is in store for me in the future. The future is frightening, exciting and filled with mystery. The future is the reason why I get up in the morning. I chose the Banksy piece to illustrate both my inspiration for his work as well as a very personal piece of my family ties. I feel that my self portrait depicts equally this aspect of my past and my future, family secrets and my passion for art.
I am extremely happy with the way it came out because it contains very intricate and intimate emotions in my life. Every time I replay it I remember specific moments in my life that have meant the world to me. I see this piece as a scrapbook of my past present and future all incorporated with my inspirations, childhood memories, my train of thought and family stories. I am very happy with the final piece. Emergence
The idea of Emergence is the working system as a result of interactions between small segments or elements. This theory can be easily proven through small things around us becoming a big issue or problem. If the concept of emergence be applied
To arts and design in a positive way, I would say interrelation between small segments is the key to the success at the end.

Gestalt psychology
It is interesting how the law of psychology applies to the design field. Gestalt’s psychology is useful as a reference to achieve visual effects. To summarize his laws, there is law of similarity, pregnant, proximity, continuity, and closure. The laws are
Straight forward, easy to understand, as it is directly related to our visual sense.
For instance, the law of similarity is about items that look similar tending to be grouped together, while the law of proximity is about objects near each other tend to be grouped together. Through the reading and research, I have learned the process of using simple laws to create an optical illusion, which was interesting and something that I would go back and read again for future reference.
